HCC is getting ready to open. No place has been checked yet, and no seal has been issued. These pages describe how HCC's checks will work.

Membership overview · Three levels. One halal-conscious Standard.

What your year with Halal Community Council includes

Halal Community Council is an advisory council and trust mark for businesses that serve halal-conscious customers, checking first across the United States. Every member shares one Standard, with three levels set by how deeply HCC checks: Cornerstone, Pillar and Keystone.

Membership is what a business gets after it passes its check. It is never sold on its own, and nothing about it ever appears on the seal.

One Standard · Cornerstone, Pillar and Keystone

Think of this as your halal-conscious advisory lane and trust mark in one membership. We help you see what your customers see, then improve it together.

Cornerstone ($500), Pillar ($997) and Keystone ($1,997) members share the same core expectations. A higher level means more checking. Dues rise with the checking, and no level is granted without passing its checks. No level goes further in visibility.

Former members keep their dues; your level now depends on which check you pass.

Every level

The shared foundation, included in every membership

Whether you are verified at Cornerstone, Pillar or Keystone, you are part of the same council, held to the same halal-conscious expectations: the one published Standard. Everything in this section is included for all members.

The seal, the record and the seal kit start the day you pass. Partner perks, the HCC Academy and the Ramadan Readiness playbook open on January 15, 2027. Anything else not built yet says so below, and we publish its date before it starts. It never costs extra.

  • All members

The HCC seal and the Standard

Use of the official Halal Community Council seal, digital and physical: a live seal for your website and display pieces for your door and counter, backed by a clear, published Standard that covers honest communication, respectful environments, and responsiveness to concerns.

    • The check before your seal goes live: your documents, a visit, and the five counter questions.
    • A yearly re-check as your business evolves, and a review of every change you report.
    • Public status: HCC Verified at your level, or Not currently verified with one neutral reason.
    • Two window decals and a counter card with your QR code, replaced after each re-check. Extra decals are $10 each.

The seal is not a sticker anyone can buy; it is attached to a living set of expectations and a dated record.

  • All members · Partner perk

    Digital trust and growth review

A structured look at how halal-conscious customers actually encounter your business online: website, key profiles, and basic ad presence where applicable.

    • Website and profile clarity review.
    • Basic pixel and tracking check for ethical use.
    • A Halal-Conscious Growth Brief with prioritized improvements.

You receive a short, practical brief, not a 40-page report that sits in a folder. Delivered as perks by partner companies at their own cost. Reviewing your halal wording is not part of it; that is an HCC Service.

  • All members · Opens January 15, 2027

    HCC Academy core courses

Access to essential training modules for owners and key staff, focused on real-world service to halal-conscious customers.

    • Owner orientation to the HCC Standard and its expectations.
    • "Welcoming Halal-Conscious Guests" and "Ramadan 101" for staff.
    • Review and feedback basics, including public responses (date to come).

Completion records help you show your team, and your customers, that you take this seriously. About the Academy

  • All members

    Visibility across HCC platforms

Your business appears on the Register with its live seal, and is eligible for inclusion in any relevant HCC city, regional and travel guides and collections, on the same terms as every other verified place.

    • Your record on the Register, and in every directory that licenses HCC's status.
    • Eligibility for city, regional, and travel-focused guides.
    • No map yet. When HCC adds one, every verified place appears on it the same way, across North America as Canada and Mexico open after the United States.

We focus on honest visibility, not aggressive promotion or "pay-to-top" ranking. There are no spotlight features: HCC never features one place over another.

  • All members

    Core playbooks and templates

Practical, copy-and-adapt playbooks that make it easier to act on what you learn, without starting from a blank page.

    • Ramadan Readiness and Eid Weekend playbooks (Ramadan Readiness: Opens January 15, 2027; Eid Weekend: Date to come).
    • A review and feedback drive kit with simple scripts.
    • A "We just joined HCC" team onboarding guide.
  • All members · Date to come

    Quarterly insights, summary edition

A short, anonymized snapshot of trends we are seeing across the places HCC checks, so you are not guessing alone. It never names a business.

    • Seasonal themes from halal-conscious customer behavior.
    • Common review patterns and questions.
    • Simple suggestions based on what is working elsewhere.
  • All members

    Member community and touchpoints

You are not navigating this alone. Members have structured ways to stay connected and get occasional help.

    • Access to selected owner roundtables on key topics.
    • General office hours for quick, focused questions, and one planning call a year.
    • Member updates and brief, anonymized case examples.
  • All members · Opens January 15, 2027

    Member perks you can redeem

A Perks tab in your portal with cards: a website review for halal-conscious customers, a Google Business Profile tune-up, a review-card kit, and a Ramadan campaign kit. One tap on Redeem; the card shows "requested", then "delivered".

Perks are the same at every level, and each can be redeemed once per membership year. Each card names the partner company that delivers it. Partners pay for their own perks; HCC pays them nothing, does not endorse them, and a perk never affects a check.

Pillar and Keystone · For owners who want deeper planning, training and insight

Where Pillar and Keystone go further

Pillar and Keystone are levels of checking first: the deeper check is what the seal shows, and the higher dues pay for it. Those dues also cover what follows. Pillar and Keystone include everything in the shared foundation, then add more structured planning and strategy, a fuller HCC Academy experience, and deeper insight into how halal-conscious customers respond. None of it is sold on its own.

They are designed for owners who want a calm, ongoing advisory relationship, not a one-time audit, and who see halal-conscious trust as a central part of their business, not a side feature.

  • More deliberate planning and implementation support across the year.
  • Full access to training and playbooks you can roll out with your team.
  • Deeper insight into how your market is changing.
  • Pillar and Keystone

    Deeper planning and implementation support

Two extended planning calls each year, plus optional follow-up reviews by call as you implement changes and prepare for major seasons like Ramadan and peak travel periods.

  • Pillar and Keystone

    HCC Academy, full access

Full course library access for your team, with generous staff seats, including a seat in the HCC staff course for everyone who must take it at your level. Specialty tracks in halal-conscious marketing, travel and hospitality, and multi-location operations are planned, each with its date shown before it opens.

  • Pillar and Keystone

    Complete playbooks library

Access to the full suite of playbooks, including advanced Eid strategies, ethical digital ads overviews, family-friendly service guides, masjid partnership templates, and travel integration kits, added as each is written.

  • Pillar and Keystone · Date to come

    Insights and benchmarks

A more detailed version of the quarterly insight brief, with simple category-level benchmarks and the option to review, privately, how your results compare to similar members in our network. Never published, never a ranking.

  • Pillar and Keystone

    Pillar and Keystone sessions

Small-group roundtables and office hours that allow for deeper discussion, examples, and peer learning with other owners who take halal-conscious trust as seriously as you do. Early access to new courses and tools, and invitations to working sessions on member resources.

  • Not offered at any level

    No priority visibility

No priority consideration in HCC travel guides, city pages, or collections, and no more detailed member profiles or spotlight opportunities for any level. Your record is your profile, and every verified place is shown on the same terms. The Register never ranks.

After you pass

Your first 90 days as a member

The first three months are about building a strong base without overwhelming you. Members at every level follow the same overall rhythm, with Pillar and Keystone members having the option for deeper conversations at each step.

Your seal is already live by day one: your record publishes after a 3-business-day preview, and your seal kit arrives. The 90 days build on it.

  1. Welcome, intake and the Standard

Once you pass, you receive your welcome pack, your seal kit, and a short intake form about your operations, locations, and current approach to halal-conscious guests. You accepted the Standard in writing when you applied; together we review what it asks of you day to day.

    Weeks 1 and 2

  2. Digital trust and growth review

You redeem your digital review perk, and the partner sends you a Halal-Conscious Growth Brief, summarizing what it sees and which changes matter most. Pillar and Keystone members may schedule a short call with the council to walk through the brief.

    Weeks 2 to 4

  3. Trust materials and review flow

Your physical display materials are in place where the Seal Use Rules allow, and we help you choose simple, respectful ways to invite feedback from halal-conscious customers, including review cards, signage, or scripts for staff.

    Month 2

  4. Initial planning touchpoint

We schedule your first planning call, focusing on the next three to six months. Pillar and Keystone members may extend this time to explore more detailed plans around Ramadan, peak seasons, or travel partnerships.

    Month 3

The yearly rhythm

After 90 days: the yearly rhythm

Once the foundations are in place, your membership settles into a steady rhythm. The focus is not constant reinvention, but quiet refinement and clear guidance when you need it.

  • Annual planning call, often scheduled ahead of Ramadan, your busiest period, or a key local season.
  • Seasonal check-ins, short touchpoints around Ramadan, Eid, and major travel or tourism peaks.
  • Light ongoing questions, a place to ask "How will this land with halal-conscious customers?" before you launch something.
  • Quiet monitoring, as we see patterns across the places we check, we share insights that help members adjust in calm, steady ways.
  • Pillar and Keystone extras, covered by the dues that pay for the deeper check: deeper planning calls, richer insight briefings, and more frequent touchpoints as needed. At Keystone, two unannounced visits a year and a monthly watch on every supplier certificate.
  • The yearly re-check, started 60 days before your anniversary, with a renewal invoice 30 days before. Nothing is ever charged automatically.

You keep running your business. We keep an eye on how it is showing up for the people who trust you most.

Good fit

Who thrives most in this membership

Good fit has less to do with industry labels and more to do with mindset. Still, there are patterns in who tends to get the most out of being part of Halal Community Council.

  • Customer-focused operators

You care about how people feel after interacting with your business, not only what they spend. You are willing to adjust small things if they genuinely improve customer trust.

  • Halal-conscious food businesses

Whether you run a restaurant, a market, a butcher shop, a bakery or a catering kitchen, you know that halal-conscious customers are paying attention and you want to meet that attention with clarity, not confusion.

  • Owners who value guidance

You like having someone outside of your daily rush who can say "this is clear, this is confusing, here is how that might read online" before you spend time or money on the wrong thing.

  • Long-term community builders

You think in years, not weeks. You want your business to be known as a trustworthy place for halal-conscious families, travelers, and locals, and you are willing to build that reputation patiently.

Both sides

Expectations on both sides

A council is a relationship, not a one-way promise. To keep the HCC seal meaningful, we are clear about what you can expect from us and what we ask of members in return.

What you can expect from us

  • Clear, honest feedback about how your business appears to halal-conscious customers.
  • Structured support that respects your time and your real-world constraints.
  • A seal that keeps its meaning because it is earned by a check and never sold: membership is limited to places that pass.
  • Calm, private communication if serious concerns are raised about your business, and written notice with a chance to fix and to appeal before any seal is withdrawn.
  • For Pillar and Keystone: deeper planning, training, and insight support as your business grows.

What we ask from members

  • Good faith responses if we bring you concerns, questions, or confusing communication to address, within 10 business days.
  • Willingness to clarify gray areas instead of leaving things vague or implied.
  • Updates within 14 days when major changes occur, such as menu, suppliers, ownership, locations, or core services.
  • A commitment to act on at least some of the guidance you receive, not simply file it away.
  • For Pillar and Keystone: your staff complete the HCC staff course, and you take an active part in planning calls and trainings where you can.

Membership investment · Three levels, one standard of trust

Prices, paid in full, with a plain refund rule

One published price list, the same for every business. You pay in full when you apply: the $150 application fee for each location, plus the first year's dues at the level you apply for. Fees buy the process, never the outcome.

  • Cornerstone seal, sample with a sample record number

    Cornerstone · Named items checked

    $500 a year

For places whose named halal items can be checked from invoices, certificates and one visit. Dues cover the full HCC foundation of trust, digital review, training, and your record on the Register.

    • Core HCC Academy courses for owners and key staff.
    • Your record on the Register and eligibility for guides.
    • Quarterly insight briefs (summary edition).

  • Pillar seal, sample with a sample record number

Pillar · Traced and kept apart, checked in person

    $997 a year

    • Everything in Cornerstone membership.
    • Two extended planning calls each year, plus follow-up options.
    • Full HCC Academy library with generous staff access.
    • Complete playbooks library and deeper insight briefings.

The refund rule

What happens to the money

If you do not pass yet
Your dues come back in full within 10 days. The $150 is kept: it paid for the check. You get a written list of what to fix and one free re-check within 60 days.
If a lower level passes
You get that level and the difference in dues back within 10 days, or you may turn it down within 10 days and take your dues back in full.
If you withdraw before the first visit
Your dues come back within 10 days. The $150 is kept.
Each anniversary
A renewal invoice 30 days before. You renew only by paying it; nothing is charged automatically. It includes the year's re-check, and if that re-check fails, the year's dues come back except one month.
More locations
Second and later locations pay dues 20% off. The application fee stays $150 for every location.
Changing level
Move up any time by paying the difference, and HCC runs the added checks. Move down only at renewal.
Your rate
Your dues stay at the rate you joined at for as long as you renew without a gap.
Price changes
Announced at least 60 days ahead. A new price applies to new applicants and to anyone renewing after a gap.

No refund during the year when a seal is withdrawn for cause, when you end the agreement early, or when the location closes or moves. Dues already paid never protect a seal. The terms and the membership agreement give every case.

Your next step

Ready to take the next step toward membership?

If this kind of structured, calm, trust-focused partnership sounds right for your business, we would be honored to read your application and check your place against the Standard. If you still have questions, you are welcome to explore the process or send us a note first.

Tell us about your business and how you currently serve halal-conscious customers. We will read your application carefully and follow up with next steps, which may include a short call to confirm the right level.

Membership is not limited by a quota. It is limited to places that pass the check. If your place does not pass yet, we will tell you honestly, in writing, and where possible suggest next steps or resources that could still benefit your business.
